Dear pregnant women,
Malaria in pregnancy is a medical emergency.
Avoid self-medication or herbal concoctions. Whenever you have symptoms suggestive of malaria (such as fever, headache, bitter taste, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc), go to the nearest clinic ASAP!
Better still, do everything possible to prevent malaria, such as:
*Keeping your surroundings clean
*Wearing clothes that cover most parts of your body to avoid mosquito bites
*Sleeping under insecticide-treated mosquito nets
*Using mosquito repellant creams, sprays, etc.
*Taking antimalarial “prophylactic” pills (such as Fansidar) starting from approx. 20 weeks
*Avoiding travel to malaria-endemic areas
