My Bio

Hi there! My name is Dr Khadijah Folake Tijani, also known as Doctor KT.

I grew up in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

I graduated from University of Ibadan in 2009 and completed my internship at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan in 2010.

I worked as a general practitioner in the private sector and then briefly with the government until 2013. I relocated to Saudi Arabia in 2014, exploring life and medical practice in other climes.

Between 2014 and 2019, I worked as a resident doctor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at two Saudi hospitals: Shaqra General Hospital, Riyadh and Security Forces Hospital, Makkah.

Apart from Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, I am also a registered physician with the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I took a career break while still keeping up-to-date with my medical knowledge.

In 2020, I created a support group called the Breastfeeding Support Lounge where I empower new moms to nurse like a boss and veteran moms, to nurse better and achieve optimal breastfeeding goals.

Currently based in Canada, I am a licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada and currently working as a family physician in Rural Saskatchewan. Outside of medicine, I embrace writing as a hobby and a second career!

I leverage the power of the internet and social media to share medical contents (mostly on women’s health) written in simple language. I also write to promote healthy marital relations, positive parenting and personal development.

My mission is to make the world a healthier place, one post at a time!

I am the proud author of six books which are all available on Amazon:

1. Nature’s Superfood – A compilation of tips for successful breastfeeding.

2. The Stampede – Tales of love, trials and faith.

3. Wholesome Motherhood – A concise guide to safe pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium.

4. Ramadan Mufeedun – A Physician’s Guide To A Salubrious Month Of Fasting.

5. Dear Damsel – A Detailed Guide For Adolescent Muslim Girls.

6. 41 Journaling Prompt for Pregnant Muslim Women.

When I’m not doctoring or writing, I can be found cooking healthy meals for my family, or playing indoor and outdoor games with my kids.
