6. BE THANKFUL. Instead of wailing and whining, be happy and grateful for what you already have: your life, health, faith, family, job… It’s human nature to always want more than we actually need. But we must try to suppress that desire and be content with little. In fact, gratitude is a highly potent source of blessings.

7. SEE IT AS A TEST. Whatever the delay is about, always remind yourself that it’s just a test, it will soon pass, and that after every difficulty comes ease.

8. TRUST ALLAAH. It may be that what you’re requesting for is not good for you now, and your Lord wants to give you something better later. It may be that that thing is dangerous for you to have now, and He is simply protecting you. Keep your trust in Him.

9. TURN TO ALLAAH. Sometimes, the sole reason for a delay in response to your prayers is that Allaah wants us to turn or return to Him. You’ve been having it all easy for a long time and you’re beginning to deviate from His path. Then, He may withhold something from you so that you can come back to Him. When you do this, He loves you even more, and He answers your call in ways we cannot fathom.

In one hadith, the Prophet (saw) said:
“How wonderful is the situation of the believer, for all his affairs are good. If something good happens to him, he gives thanks for it and that is good for him; if something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience, and that is good for him. This does not apply to anyone but the believer.” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 2999).

May Allaah grant us success in both worlds. Aameen.
